Living on a canal has it’s advantages if you love nature. For us, nature is always offering some sort of entertainment.
We are used to seeing a lone Manatee or sometimes a Mom and her calf but on a steamy summer afternoon, a group of Manatees had different plans.
A little research shows that Manatees only breed once every 2 yrs and they carry their single calf for 12-13 months and then it takes another 12 to 18 months to wean the calf.
I had shot this video with my phone and recently found it and thought I would share it with you. We only watched for a few minutes. We didn’t want to startle them but then again, I don’t think they noticed us.
